Carol Westdal

Growing up singing harmony in the car with her parents and siblings, Carol began her singing career in Winnipeg at age eight with regular performances on the CBC and in musical theatre. She went on to do a BMus degree at UBC, majoring in voice and minoring in piano. After graduation, she spent a number of years as a professional pop singer before returning to UBC to obtain an MSc in Speech-Language Pathology. Carol’s choral experience has included singing with the UBC Chamber Singers, Cantata Singers, Phoenix Chamber Choir and Elektra Women’s Choir. In the past few years, Carol performed on vocals and keyboard with the Tim Johnson Jazz Quartet on the west coast and continues to pursue this genre on the east coast. Since moving with her husband to Halifax in 2018, Carol has volunteered at Camp Hill Veterans’ Hospital leading a regular singalong with residents, has a small private practice in speech-language pathology, and enjoys getting her heart rate up playing tennis. She is delighted to sing with the Camerata Singers.
