A Child’s Christmas In Wales

  • SUN. DEC. 4, 2011 | 4:00PM | First Baptist Church, Halifax

Halifax Camerata Singers and Camerata Xara Young Women’s Choir once again join forces, this time in a family concert in Christmas music helping to tell the story of Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon then to get away from the hustle and bustle of the season, and spend the afternoon listening to stories and music of Christmas. Who knows – you might even get a chance to sing along!

Psalmo

  • SAT. MAR. 24, 2012 | 7:30PM | First Baptist Church, Halifax
  • Guest artists: Andrew Pickett, countertenor; Shawn Whynot, organ; Ellen Gibling, harp; D’Arcy Gray, percussion
  • and Singers of the Camerata Youth Mentoring Program

There has likely not been a greater resource for composers of sacred music through the ages than the book of Psalms. Nicknamed the "Hebrew hymn book," the Psalms have been a source of inspiration for composers since the Renaissance and for this concert, it is fitting that Leonard Bernstein’s tour de force, Chichester Psalms for harp, percussion, organ and counter tenor take centre stage. Join us as Camerata takes you on a spiritual journey singing Psalm settings from all periods and traditions.
