Halifax Camerata Singers, as part of its commitment to encourage and mentor emerging choral composers in Canada, announces the 2013 Camerata New Song Competition.
Emerging composers who are interested in winning the opportunity of writing a commissioned piece to be performed by Halifax Camerata Singers are invited to submit a written score of an SATB piece they have composed, as an example of their best work.
This new composition will be performed in the winter of 2014 at a concert called "Saints and Legends"; this concert will celebrate both saints and legendary people who have walked among us and had a transformational impact on our world.
The successful composer will receive $1000 once the commissioned
work is completed, and will retain copyright for the commissioned work.
Deadline for receipt of submissions is May 31, 2013.The successful composer will be notified by June 15, 2013.
