Halifax Camerata Singers
welcomes you to 2011/2012,
their 25th Anniversary Season.

The Halifax Camerata Singers is a not-for-profit society incorporated under the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the day-to-day activities of Camerata, including concert arrangements, grant applications, fundraising, publicity, contracts and public relations.

The society maintains close relationships with such organizations as Symphony Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Choral Federation, the Saint Cecilia Concert Society and Musique Royale, and with choirs and directors throughout the country.

Members of the 2010-11 Board of Directors are Marsha Curry (chair); Callie Bent, Susan Clarke, Patricia De Meo, Jordan Gracie, Anne James, Claire Leger, Paddy Muir, Sean Pecknold, Arthur Sedwick, Jeff Joudrey (Artistic Director), Christina Murray (Xara Conductor), and Cosma Kabazi (treasurer).

top choral awards for Halifax Camerata Singers

The Halifax Camerata Singers have won the top prize in the 2010 National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs.

The prestigious Healey Willan Grand Prize is awarded by the Canada Council for the Arts for the best performance and overall musicianship, technique and program. The award was presented to Camerata's artistic director, Jeff Joudrey, at the Association of Canadian Choral Communities (ACCC) biannual conference, held May 20-23, 2010 in Saskatoon.

Camerata also placed first in the mixed voice chamber choir category, winning against finalists L'Ensemble Vocal Ste-Anne Singers of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC and St. Bamabas Choir, Ottawa. Camerata was the only Nova Scotia choir to make it to the finals in the competition.
